g14 productions originated in Harrisonburg, Virginia in 1999.
While attending James Madison University, roommates Matthew Balthrop
and Nehal Joshi began writing, producing and directing shows for
the Stratford Players' Experimental Theater. Working out of the
basement of Wampler Hall, the two dubbed themselves g14 productions
in an effort to attract like minded artists to form a theater
group. g14 produced many successful works of theater while in
Harrisonburg, including Paula Vogel's "How I Learned to Drive",
William Shakespeare's "Macbeth", and the original work
"Catharsis".
After leaving Harrisonburg, Matthew teamed with New York Film
Academy graduate David White, producer/webmaster Kelli Audibert
and award winning director Jeff Lofgren. The four focused on independent
film production and since then, g14 has produced numerous short
films and a feature film, in addition to winning national awards
for their work all around. All in all, a pretty good ride. Currently,
g14 produces their weekly short film show, <insert show here>,
which has been quickly gaining a large following all over the
world.
Commentary: Starting with Nothing - Matthew Balthrop
I love theater. I have ever since I started acting. There is so much that one can do with theater. It can entertain, astonish, provoke, and inform all at the same time. read the essay
